Baby Botox®

‘Baby Botox’ is a term given to smaller doses of the Botox toxin which causes muscles to relax. The term was interestingly enough coined by the very talented film director Martin Scorsese when he complained (or commented) that some actors and actresses couldn’t facially express themselves as he wanted due to them looking static from recent Botox.

Therefore, he thought of the idea of having smaller doses of the same toxin and administered to the same areas; giving the same results in a more youthful and healthy aesthetic but allowing the actors and actresses to use their facial muscles as usual and characterise themselves more humanly on camera.

Many of our patients (especially those new to Botox) are considering having Baby Botox® done instead of the more commonly known regular Botox.

Thinking of a more youthful appearance? What about looking the best you can, feeling more confident, radiant and maybe even like your younger self?

Baby Botox® can be used to diminish the signs and appearance of:

  • Horizontal creases across the forehead
  • Wrinkles around the eyes (Crow’s Feet)
  • Frown, Worry, Laugh and Bunny Lines
  • Brow Asymmetry or Brow Lift
  • Drooping Mouth Corners
  • Lip Wrinkles
  • Neck Banding
  • Severe Underarm Sweating

So what is Baby Botox®?

Baby Botox® is a new highly effective anti-ageing treatment - the active substance being onabotulinumtoxin A. It has been used in medicine and cosmetic practices for many years.

Initially it was used to treat strabismus (a lazy eye), blepharospasms (twitching of the eyelid). It is an alternative to a full Botox treatment which wears off slightly quicker yet still gives the same youthful boost to your face.

Baby Botox® is a prescription medicine that was approved by the FDA in April 2002 for cosmetic purposes. Since then it has been used in over 66 countries worldwide and is the most popular cosmetic procedure to date.

Hundreds of women and men choose Baby Botox here at the Royal Tunbridge Wells Skin & Laser Clinic. This is not only for the natural looking results, but for the quality of the procedure and product used.

How does Baby Botox® work?

Baby Botox® works exactly the same way as normal Botox® treatments. It blocks the impulses from the nerves to the facial muscles, and temporarily relaxes them so they do not contract involuntarily.

But there is nothing to worry about – with Baby Botox® your facial expressions are unaffected as the dose is just enough to cause a visible and natural result.

The muscles continue to react normally, allowing you to laugh, frown and show surprise – just without the wrinkles!

What can I expect?

The beauty of a Baby Botox® treatment is that it’s a quick, safe and a simple non-surgical procedure. It will also wear off slightly quicker than regular Botox®, which is ideal for first time procedures or regular top ups to remain looking youthful. It is injected directly into the muscles using a tiny micro-needle, meaning that there is minimal discomfort.

There is also no recovery time – so you could even squeeze a treatment into your lunch break! Baby Botox® is suitable for all ages – our clients range from those in their 20’s to those in their 80’s!

How many Baby Botox® treatments will I need?

Within days of having your first treatment, you will see a marked improvement in the moderate to severe frown lines between the brows, elimination of lines on the forehead and a softening of ‘crow’s feet’, with results lasting for two to three months (although this can vary in each individual).

Additional information:

  • We carried out over 1200 injectable procedures in 2011
  • Botox lasts between 3-4 months
  • Results start to be visible between 2- 10 days
  • Complimentary Botox review required 2 weeks following initial procedure

To maintain your results, we recommend that you repeat your Baby Botox® treatment every two to three months as the effects wear off.

We have found that the effects tend to last longer in patients who have had several injections.
