Botox® for migraines

Botox® is a product name for Botulinum Toxin. It was licensed for treatment for chronic migraines in July 2010.

A number of people whom received Botox®  treatments for perhaps cosmetic reasons in the mid 90's reported that Botox®  injections helped reduce and prevent chronic migraines.

Much clinical research has been actively engaged in, with no real answer to why Botox®  can help some people who suffer from migraines, yet with some it has been known to get rid of their problem completely.

Botox® has benefits to migraine sufferers

Botox® is commonly known as a cosmetic treatment to reduce visible wrinkles and to also make the skin appear more youthful, it is now also becoming more popular for people wanting to use the benefits it provides in the prevention of migraines.

In recent news dated 10th May 2012, the health watchdog National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) has published final draft guidance which does recommend the anti-wrinkle jab treatment Botox® for chronic migraine sufferers.
