Botox® - Muscle Relaxing Injections
Over 95% of our patients who have had a Botox® treatment choose to return for follow-up treatments as they are completely satisfied with the results.*
Dreaming of a younger you? What about looking the best you can, feeling more confident, radiant and maybe even slightly younger?
Botox® can be used for:
• Horizontal creases across the forehead
• Wrinkles around the eyes (Crow’s Feet)
• Frown, Worry, Laugh and Bunny Lines
• Brow Asymmetry or Brow Lift
• Drooping Mouth Corners
• Lip Wrinkles
• Neck Banding
• Severe Underarm Sweating
Botox is a helpful solution for what we call 'wrinkles in motion'. It is not however an effective solution for 'wrinkles at rest'. Prolonged use of Botox may help these 'wrinkles in motion' becoming wrinkles at rest. One ten minute treatment and you will notice an incredible difference in your fine lines and wrinkles between 2-10 days.
So what is Botox?
Botulinum Toxin is a purified toxin. By injecting tiny amounts into a specific facial muscle the targeted muscle then becomes relaxed causing the muscle to be inactive and weak. In this way Botulinum Toxin acts as a muscle relaxant immobilisng the unwanted line or wrinkle. Is Botox safe?
Botox is a highly effective anti-aging treatment, the active substance, (onabotulinumtoxinA), has been used in medicine for many years.Initially it was used to treat Strabismus (lazy eye), Blepharospasm (a twitch of the eyelid). It was first approved by the American FDA in 1989. Botox is widely used in children for treatment of Cerebral Palsy and is one of the most researched and studied drugs in the pharmaceutical industry.
Botox is a prescription medicine that was approved by the FDA in April 2002, for cosmetic use. Since then it has been used in over 66 countries worldwide and is the most popular cosmetic procedure to date.
Why is Botox so popular?
Hundreds of women and men choose Botox here at the Royal Tunbridge Wells Skin & Laser Clinic, not only for the natural achievable results, but for the quality of the procedure and product used. Important - always refer to our 'Looking for a practitioner you can trust?' checklist to ensure you find a reputable injector before going ahead with the procedure.
How does Botox® work?
Botox® blocks the impulses from the nerves to the facial muscles, and temporarily relaxes them so they don’t contract involuntarily. But don’t worry – your facial expressions are unaffected.
The muscles continue to react normally, allowing you to laugh, frown and show surprise – just without the wrinkles!
What can I expect?
The beauty of a Botox® treatment is that it’s a quick, safe and simple non-surgical procedure. The Botox® is injected directly into the muscles using a tiny micro-needle, so there is minimal discomfort.
How much downtime will there be?
There is also no down time or recovery – so you could even squeeze a treatment into your lunch break! Botox® is suitable for all ages – our clients range from those in their 20s to those in their 80s!
As with all treatments, there are some side effects associated with its use, but most of these are mild and temporary. Mild pain, tenderness and bruising may be associated with the injection and some people have reported a slight (1-2 days) headache after the treatment.
How many Botox® treatments will I need?
Within days of having your first treatment, you will see a marked improvement in the moderate to severe frown lines between the brows, elimination of lines on the forehead and a softening of ‘crow’s feet’, with results lasting for three to four months (although this can vary in each individual).
To maintain your results, we recommend that you repeat your Botox® treatment every three to four months as the effects wear off. We have found that the effects tend to last longer in patients who have had several injections. For treatment areas speak to one of our expert practitioners.
